To Keep My Pride

I quit my job today. Well, maybe not quite, more like I got fired, I think because that should be the only explanation for leaving a job like that…. not that either.
I quit my job, a perfectly good job I might add. I got paid well to do nothing. Just seat around a desk sometimes, help people find books sometimes then shelve books sometimes -a perfect job, not much to do yet not boring, not every day yet I was living like a millionaire which the amount of money entering into my account every second Wednesday, not a single day late.
I quit, not because I hated my coworkers or supervisors, not because the coronavirus causes a shift reduction but simply to keep my pride. And right now sitting in my bed trying to fill out my final timesheet, I am questioning whether pride is worth it or whether all those YouTube success stories of quitting jobs to start their own business is even true.
